How about CGGAAD, Crescent Guard Games Atlantian Archery Day? Then we
could all run about going GGGGGGAAAAD! after every shot we missed and be
clearing our throats at the same time!

I like the BAAD. Problem is, all the Vikings might mistake BAAD for
DAAAAAAAADDDY from all the sheep!

Heather, you're just not right in the head!

There goes the Crescent Guard Games, I guess...

Atlantian archers,

I have been working with our fellow archers from the south to create an

archery only event along the lines of SAAD and Needwood (which should

probably be called NAAD. HEY! How about Needwood Atlantian Archery Day

= NAAD?). They have taken the bait and accepted the name I have

suggested for their event Trimaris Archery Day or TAD. (Thus if we have

a SAAD and a TAD we could also have a NAAD.) Lakeland Florida is

central Florida, west of Orlando, east of Tampa. If you can support our

fellow archers of the south they would greatly appreciate it and could

use the encouragement. Archery is growing in Trimaris with great

enthusiasm. They still have a long way to go though so any

encouragement from "the kingdom of archers" (that would be Atlantia)

would be greatly appreciated.

Their flier follows:

Greetings unto the great populace of Trimaris and beyond,

This missive is to inform the populace that the Kingdom has a new event

scheduled for August 28th, 2010 in Lakeland Florida. This event is an

Archery Only event, called Trimaris Archery Day or TAD.

Other kingdoms to the north have had good results with their kingdom

archery days and that is what inspired me to start an event down here in

Trimaris. Please cross post this to any groups you feel would be

interested in attending this event.

The event will be held at Tenoroc Shooting sports complex. This is a

commercial shooting range with Archery ranges, rifle, and pistol, and

shotgun 5-stand, and sporting clay ranges. The fee to shoot on the

archery range will be 15.00. This is in addition to the site fee of

7.00, which is used to pay for the portable restrooms, and the free

lunch food. Please pre-register or rsvp so we can be sure to have enough

food on hand. This is a dry site, and no alcohol will be allowed while

on the range.

The Archery range is located in the woods, and its nice and shady,

however because it is wooded we must prepare take measures to keep the

insects off of us. Mosquitos, ticks, and spiders will be joining us on

the range I am sure, so please bring bug spray!, Please bring any

medical items you might need for an accidental sting or bite. there is

limited seating on the ranges so please bring something to sit upon.

Pavilions and Pop-up shelters will be allowed so if you wish to bring

your own shade and comfort items I would like to encourage you to bring

your medieval pavilions, and try to leave the mundane stuff at home.

There will be Target Archery, Combat Archery Range(only no fighting),

Thrown Weapons, and Siege Engines. This is a kingdom war (missile only)

practice.

The Target Archery range will have ranges up to 90 yards, a Royal Round,

Novelty shoots, and a 3D animal walk thru the woods hunt to game for

feast. Some loaner archery equipment will be provided, as will some

youth archery equipment for those wishing to learn to shoot. The 3D walk

thru range will be set up so that the archer MUST be stealthy and

accurate. Only one shot per target will be allowed, and if you are noisy

you may scare the game, and you will not be allowed to shoot that

target. Rangers will measure the noise you make and determine if you

have been stealthy enough to approach the target and shoot. This will be

an extremely difficult range to shoot, testing all your archery skills.

Remember you are hunting game for feast, and animals have keen senses so

we will be trying to mimic this as much as possible. The winner will be

the one who scores the highest number of animals shot.

A combat archery range will be set up to test your CA skills. Please

bring your own CA equipment or borrow from your friends, NO loaner gear

will be provided. CA Archers shooting for scores/completion will need to

be in armor per the SCA/Kingdom standards to shoot in the competition.

Others wishing to use the range not shooting for score, may when

available, use the range for fun, without the armor requirements

Siege Engines will have a little more than half a football field with

which to practice and compete in contests (providing we get enough

engines to compete).

Thrown weapons targets will be set up for Knife, Axe, and spear throwing

and a royal round will also be run for score. There will be some thrown

weapon loaner equipment available for use.

Prizes and or scrolls will be awarded for winners of each contest.

Vendors will be allowed to merchant at the site, so long as there are no

firearm related items for sale. Please contact me if would like to vend

at this event. There is no fee to merchant, just pay the site fee.

Because lunch is free, there should be no need for food vendors, however

you are still allowed to vend if you wish.

Camping is not allowed on site, so I have made arrangements with a local

camping/rv resort nearby for a group rate. The Lakeland RV resort

located nearby has tent sites for a group rate of $17.00 They have a

swimming pool, spa, stocked fishing lake, game room, snack bar, shower

and restroom facilities. Mention the Trimaris Archers to get the group

rate. The camp site has a community bon-fire pit, so if we get enough

folks we could have a bardic circle. This is a commercial site, and

drinking is allowed, in moderation of course.
