[Archers] Fwd: I need your help

I'll bow to others experience who have done more with their Atlatl's ...
(I just purchased mine at Pennsic this year) ...

But if I may, let me make a few suggestions based upon input I was
getting from the Atlatl community years ago, when we were first
discussing the idea of an Atlatl RR.

I just went and read the 'rules' (perse) for it, and was a little surprised.

Back then when we talked about it, we had been specifically discussing
the idea of it being:

* 10, 20, 30yds (Just like Enequy's suggestion)
* Done against a 120cm FITA face, NOT the 60cm one.
* 3 vs 6 launches was being debated ... but at the time was leaning
towards 3 just because that seemed to be the 'standard', and the idea
was that requiring 6 would either suddenly put a large strain on entry,
and/or seriously slow down the rounds (having to go twice)

So, my suggestion would be to stay with 3 launches ... but to drop the
ranges as suggested, and move up to the 120cm target. All of which seem
very reasonable for what the Atlatl is.

If you look at the numbers, the move to 120cm will 'roughly' double
scores (in practice it will do more than double) ... which would bring
the highest so far to 28.6 ... then the move 10yds closer, will make it
even easier ... and probably shoot top scores into the 30's,

That's still with only 3 throws ... 6 throws, double it.

... And officially if one was to go to 6 throws, the ranking
system/numbers would have to be changed ... which is based upon the
'potential maximum' score allowed. A bigger target (120cm) just makes
it easier to score highly. adding more throws, would require
rejiggering of the score ranks, which in the end wouldn't really make a
net change, other than seeing higher numbers overall, but people still
in the same ranks.

Afterall, you don't want to fall into the East Kingdom trap, where you
assuming people will only ever be 'so good', and then have to keep
inventing new top ranks because people keep surpassing them.
