[Atlantia-Announce] Hawkwood Baronial Birthday and Investiture - Royal Court Report

Greetings unto the populace of the Kingdom of Atlantia, from Cian 
Triton, Principal Herald.

On Saturday, May 20, 2017, in the 52nd year of the Society, the Barony 
of Hawkwood celebrated it’s birthday, and inducted a new Baron and Baroness.

In the morning, under the nice shade of a covered shelter, amidst the 
serenading of the Cicadas, Their Majesties King Cuan and Queen Signy did 
process into court, followed by Their Excellencies of Hawkwood, Baron 
Ronan and Baroness Muriel, His Excellency of Windmaster’s Hill Baron 
Daemon, Her Excellency of Nottinghill Coill Baroness Brig, Their 
Excellencies of Black Diamond Baron Stefan and Baroness Evelyn, and 
Their Excellencies of Hidden Mountain Baron Roibeard and Baroness Cecilia.

Royal Court was opened, and Their Majesties greeted everyone and 
welcomed the to the event. They then granted Their Excellencies of 
Hawkwood permission to open Their final court. A Baronial Court for 
Hawkwood was opened, and will be reported on by the Baronial Herald.

Following the conclusion of Their Court, Baron Ronan and Baroness Muriel 
rose from Their chairs, and stood before Their Majesties. The King and 
Queen thanked Their Excellencies for Their diligience in maintaining the 
lands of Hawkwood for the Crown of Atlantia. Upon receiving the Coronets 
of Hawkwood, Their Majesties did then see fit to give both of them a 
Court Barony with a Grant of Arms. Beautiful scrolls were produced, and 
specially made coronets were brought forth. Loud cheers were heard as 
Baron Ronan and Baroness Muriel retired from court.

The autocrat of the event, Lady Anniliese Jager, came forward to make a 
few brief announcements.

Their Majesties then called for the Order of the White Scarf, and sent 
them to bring in one whom they feel should join their order. Count 
Dietrich von Stroheim was brought forth to kneel before Their Majesties, 
where he was informed that, if he should wish, he would be expected to 
fight his prize today to join the Order.

Their Majesties called for the next Baron and Baroness of Hawkwood to 
come forth. Lord Edward Godale and Lady Gracia Slay came forward to the 
accompaniment of live music (as well as the song of the cicadas!), and 
were duly invested as the Baron and Baroness of Hawkwood, entrusted with 
keeping these lands safe.

There being no further business, morning court was closed, and everyone 
was encouraged to go forth and enjoy the day!

In the evening, a weary populace gathered for court. Their Majesties, as 
well as the Baron and Baroness of Hawkwood, His Excellency of 
Windmaster’s Hill, Her Excellency of Nottinghill Coill, Their 
Excellencies of Black Diamond, and Their Excellencies of Hidden 
Mountain, all processed into court. Royal court was opened, and Their 
Majesties welcomed the populace.

Baroness Evelyn of Black Diamond was invited to come forward to speak of 
the Known World Dance and Music Symposium, which is being held in our 
wonderful Kingdom the weekend of June 15-18 in Baltimore, Maryland. All 
who have interest in dance and music are highly encouraged to attend!

Their Excellencies of Hawkwood were invited to open Their first Baronial 
Court, the results of which will be supplied by the Baronial Herald. Of 
note, however, is that during Hawkwood’s court, Their Majesties 
intervened as Darci Dewulf stood before Their Excellencies, and raised 
her to the rank of nobility by giving her an Award of Arms.

Also during Baronial Court, as Lord Klaus was doing Autocrat stuff, 
Their Majesties inquired if he and his wife were actually 
co-autocratting the event. Upon learning that they were, His Majesty had 
Lord Klaus retrieve his wife from the back of the hall and for them both 
to come before Them. Their Majesties appreciated the work that was done 
with the event, and all of the detail that went into it, and awarded 
both of them the Award of the Herring.

Following the Baronial court, Dagr Bludax was brought into court, and 
awarded arms.

Klaus Jager was brought into court once again to receive a Sea Dragon 
for his martial prowess.

Lady Katherine of the Doves come into court to induct a new page, Riley, 
daughter of Lord Ihone Munroe. Mistress Etain of Sutherland will be 
Riley’s sponsor, and she informed the Crown that Riley already plans to 
become Mistress Etain’s apprentice when she gets older!

Three youth, Eoin de Barri, Tristan de Barri, and Xavier the Crystal 
Keeper were all brought into court, where they received a Sea Tyger for 
their fighting abilities as youth fighters.

Their Majesties had Curtis Roibeard’s son, Cameron Roibeard’s Daughter, 
and Hannah Roibeards’s daughter, brought before Them. Their Majesties 
were most pleased at all They had heard of the service these three do, 
and thus awarded each of them a Hippocampus. A proud Baron Roibeard, 
Baron of Hidden Mountain, had a tremendous smile on his face.

The Children of Atlantia were called forward, where they were allowed to 
plunder the Atlantian Toy Chest.

Arias Velarde Santillana Del Mar was summoned into court to receive his 
Award of Arms from Their Majesties.

Lady Adair of Makyswell was brought into court, where she was recognized 
for her service by being given an Opal.

Their Majesties had Francico de la Torre come forward to receive his 
Award of Arms.

Airik Vatrhorn was commanded to appear in court, where he was recognized 
for his service by being Awarded Arms.
The command was sent forth for Lord Wilhelm von Brandenburg to come 
before the King and queen, where his service was recognized through the 
giving of an Opal.

The Triton Principal Herald asked Their Majesties permission to go 
forward into the assembled populace to personally bring the next person 
into court. Their Majesties gave Their Permission, and Triton went 
around the seated Coronets (thankful that it wasn’t a huge Great Court!) 
and stopped before a young lady taking pictures from the front Row. 
“Lady Virginia of Wolfholt, your Monarchs command your presence” he 
said, offering his hand to the young lady and leading her before the 
thrones, where he introduced his daughter, Lady Virginia, to Their 
Majesties. The King and Queen, having heard of the service that Lady 
Virginia does, helping out in the kitchen, making targets for archery 
ranges, and assisting her father on the range, were pleased to award her 
with the Opal. Following the cheers, Baron Daemon of Windmaster’s Hill 
was heard to remark about how the cheers coming from the herald seemed a 
little more boisterous than usual. Triton simply responded that he was a 
proud father!

Lord Tiberius Aufdius Crispus was summoned forth into court, where he 
received a Silver Osprey.

Lady Marryn Blackgroves, who that morning had stepped down from her 
position as Baronial Herald for Hawkwood prior to her moving to the 
Middle Kingdom in a couple of weeks, was called into court. Their 
Majesties thanked her for her service, and felt that she needed a proper 
send-off as she begins a journey to a new Kingdom, and thus They made 
her a Court Baroness with a Grant of Arms.

Gabriel “The Traveller” West was commanded to appear in court, where he 
was given his Aoa and an Opal in appreciation for all of his work as a 
herald.

Maaster Raphael de la Rosa was invited into court, where he expressed 
concern about one of the rapier fighters. Lord Klaus Jager was called 
forth, where Master Raphael looked disdainfully at the flimsy blue 
ribbon tied around Klaus’ arm, where a good blue scarf should be. Master 
Raphael had it removed, considering it a disgrace, then announced that 
at a future event, Lord Klaus was to play his prize to be recognized by 
the Acadamie D’Espee as a Gold scarf!

The Order of the White Scarf was summoned into court, followed by Count 
Dietrich von Stroheim. The Order indicated that they felt that Count 
Dietrich had acquitted himself admirably, and thus Count Dietrich was 
inducted into the Order of the White Scarf, as Her Majesty tied a scarf 
given by Baron Daemon as the one that Baron Daemon’s wife had made for 
him 17 years previously.

The Order of the Golden Dolphin was summoned to attend Their Majesties. 
King Cuan looked around, and believed that they were missing someone. He 
had the herald call Lord Elphin ap Daffyd into court. His Majesty was 
still not pleased, as the Order was yet incomplete, so He had the herald 
call forth Baroness Delie Flammen. Their Majesties spoke of all of the 
work that Elphin and Delia have done over the years, and They felt it 
was high time that both of them be inducted into the Order of the Golden 
Dolphin.

With that being the final business of the day, Their Majesties closed 
Their court and bade everyone to prepare for feast!

During Feast, Their Majesties opened a small court, and brought Z'hena 
Solovyeva before Them. Z’hena is the wife of Lord Airik Valthorn, who 
received his AoA during evening court. Their Majesties felt it only fair 
that They Award Arms to Z’hena as well. Loud cheers were heard for Lady 
Z’hena!

This concludes all activities that were held during Hawkwood Baronial 
Birthday and Investiture, and all accounts are accurate to the best of 
my recollection and notes.
